Cornelius "Ed" Schipper

Cornelius Arend John Immanuel "Ed" Schipper of Neustadt, at the age of 74, passed away to be with his Heavenly Father on the morning of January 20, 2019 at Brucelea Haven in Walkerton.

Born on April 12, 1944 in a concentration camp in Vught, The Netherlands to the late Arend and Jane (nee Testrake) Schipper. Ed had a great talent and loved to sing; becoming a local celebrity while he sang with the Musical group "The Hummingbirds". His fame did not take away from his gentle nature. He was a hard working strong man that wasn't afraid of long hours on the farm. He enjoyed hoof trimming and connected with his horses on a level that he found peaceful. The last eight years had been difficult for Ed, but he found strength in the Lord and joy in his family.

He will be missed by his wife of almost 50 years Atty (nee van Alten) of Neustadt. Loved father of Pauline (Ron) Diemert of Ayton, Patricia (Scott) Armstrong of Hanover, Pamela (Bruce) Verstege of Haliburton, Jamie Schipper and Lyndy Reid of Palmerston and Nathan (Crystal) Schipper of Durham. Special grandfather of Billie, Jordan, Erin, Zacharia, Gabriel, Phoenix, Zoe, Zackary, Alisha, Tiffany, Alex, Brandon, Logan, Dineke, Lily and Kylie. Great grandfather of Cooper and Dax. He will be dearly remembered by his extended family and siblings Willy Van Dorp of Clinton, Ben (Jo) Schipper of Strathroy, Ria (Rudi) Bouius of St.Thomas, Jo Newell of Abbotsford, BC, Jane (John) Andrews of St.Thomas, in laws Jake Van Alten, Hank Van Alten, Adriana (John) Van Boven, Nellie Manley and John (Allison)Van Alten, and all his nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by grandson Eric, sister Grace (Gary)Van Dorp, Sander Van Dorp, brother in law Len Newell and sister in law Willy Loopstra.

Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service of Remembrance at the Hanover Missionary Church, (628-11th Street, Hanover) on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 12 noon. A time of visiting and remembrance will commence following the service. Cremation has taken place.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the charity of your choice would be apprecitaed by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover.
