Dimitri Lehunewycz

Dimitri Lehunewycz, formerly of Ravenna, passed away peacefully with family by his side at Hanover and District Hospital on Wednesday, January 27, 2021. He was 74. 

Born on February 22, 1946 in Germany to the late Wasyl and Katarina (nee Liszuk) Lehunewycz. Dimitri was a steamfitter until his retirement years where he enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Affectionately named Papa Smurf and he relished in being able to help anyone in need. 

Lovingly remembered by his children Katerina (Dylan) Goulding, Stephan Lehunewycz (Helen Gialedekis), Alexandre (Ashley) Lehunewycz and Tanya Lehunewycz. Papa of Erik Goulding, Henry Goulding, Elliot Goulding, Alexandra Lehunewycz, Amanda Lehunewycz (Jamie Somerville), Stephanie (Greg) Goss, Paul (Jennifer) McIvor, Ayden Lehunewycz, Adysen Lehunewycz, Ariya Lehunewycz, Ayva Lehunewycz, Alyius Lehunewycz. Special great papa of Lucas Goss, Bryson Goss and Tripp Goss. Dimitri will be missed by his brother Petro (Nadine Mattez) Lehunewycz, and sister-in-law Renee Rychlinski. He will be dearly remembered by his nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by his wife Genevieve (nee Rychlinski) Lehunewycz, daughter Veronique Lehunewycz and sisters Sonia Lehunewycz and Marika Lehunewycz. 

A Ukranian Funeral Mass will be held on Friday,  January 29, 2021 at 11:00 am via Live stream. To view the service please go online via YouTube and go to the page Friends of St. Elias (https://www.youtube.com/user/tsyhan) Father Roman Galadza officiating.  Interment in St. Elias Cemetery, Brampton, Ontario.  

Memorial donations to the Dale Brain Injury Foundation  would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.  Arrangements entrusted to the care of Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover.
