George Rogers

George Rogers

George Henry Rogers, passed away suddenly at his residence in Hanover, on Saturday, April 3, 2021. He was 85.

Born in Hanover on June 30, 1935, son of the late Harry and Mary Ellen (Herd) Rogers. George worked as a Stationery Engineer at many different local furniture factories in Hanover and area until retiring. One of his main passions was enjoying the outdoors and everything it had to offer. George thoroughly enjoyed both hunting and fishing, and loved time well spent in the wilderness with family and friends.  A true workaholic, people who knew George knew that he was a 'busy bee'.  He could never sit still for too long, before thinking of something else to tend to.  But above all else, George had a deep passion and love for his family.  He married Yvonne, the love of his life, in 1959, and together they enjoyed 62 years of marriage, affectionately calling each other 'Hun' everyday they were together. They enjoyed raising their family and all the fond memories that came with it.

Survived by loving wife Yvonne (Knapp) Rogers, son Paul (Brenda) Rogers of Durham, grandchildren Holly Rogers of Durham and Gillian Rogers of Barrie, grandson-in-law Jordan Beaupre of Durham, great grandson Ovid Beaupre of Durham and daughter-in-law Sarah (Brad) Shields and their daughter Emily Shields of Barrie.  Predeceased by son Brian Rogers and granddaughter Jennifer Rogers.

As per his wishes, cremation has taken place.  Inurnment to be held in the future in Hanover Cemetery.  Arrangements entrusted to the care of Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover.

Memorial donations to the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters for conservation efforts, or a charity of choice, would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Private condolence messages may be sent to the family at www.mightonfuneralhome.ca
