Edna Hillgartner

Edna Hillgartner

It is with great sadness to share the news of the passing of Edna Marie Hillgartner, of Hanover, at Hanover and District Hospital, on Saturday, August 28, 2021, with her sister Florence by her side. She was 93.

Edna was born on July 20, 1928 to the late Louis and Clara (nee Ehmke) Klages. She loved to spend time with her mother, looking after her father’s accounting of his business, and as a Representative of Beauty Counselor, and most of all babysitting her 2 great nephews, MacKenzie and Benjamin Klages. Edna married Gerald and enjoyed being by his side with all the functions and events that the Fireman's Association would take them too. Edna was a faithful member of St. Matthew's Ev. Lutheran Church in Hanover.

She will be missed by her sisters Irene Fisk of Harriston, and Florence Farr of Thornbury. Also survived by her sisters-in-law Pauline Klages, Audrey Murdoch and Doreen Blum all of Hanover, and Claudette Hillgartner of Kitchener. Edna loved and cherished all of her many wonderful nieces and nephews and their families. Edna was a very special friend to Faye Buck and Jane Coulson both of Hanover, and special niece Jeannie Fisk of Harriston, and will be missed deeply. Edna was loved by many, and will be missed by those who shared many good times and memories with her.  Predeceased by her parents, dear husband Gerald "Gerry" Hillgartner, son Norman in infancy, brothers Alvin ‘Louie’ Klages and Gordon Klages, sister-in-law Myrtle Schmidt, brothers-in-law Douglas Farr, Robert Hillgartner, Dr. Kenneth Fisk, Harold Blum, and her treasured nephew Christopher Farr.

Special thanks to Dr. Eckensweiler and the amazing nursing staff for their kind, loving care for Edna during her stay at Hanover Hospital. To the staff of Revera’s Sprucewood Lodge who shared Edna’s life the past few years, a huge thank-you for all your love and care.
