Shaun William Schaefer, of Hanover, passed away at Hanover and District Hospital, on Monday, January 31, 2022 at the age of 37.

Born on June 22, 1984 to Bill and Sue (nee Yandt) Schaefer.  Those who knew Shaun, knew that he had a bright spirit and positive energy, and lived life to the fullest.  He had a deep love and passion for his wife and children, family and friends. He will be forever remembered as an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Toronto Blue Jays fan. Shaun helped create so many memories through all his adventures going to music venues, travelling, and attending sporting events. He always had a way of lighting up a room or any social gathering with plenty of stories and his big personality. He will be dearly missed by so many people.  

Survived by devoted wife Catherine (nee Rogers) Schaefer of Hanover. Loved and adored by his little girls, Sophie, Tessa and Leah.  Dear son of Bill and Sue Schaefer of Hanover, brother of Scott (Karley) Schaefer of Hanover, his maternal grandmother Lorraine Yandt of Hanover. Loved son-in-law of Doreen and Tom Schultz of Hanover, and brother-in-law of Anastasia (Dan) Begon of Hanover, Victoria Rogers of Walkerton, Daniel (Alyssia) Rogers of Varney. Also survived by nieces and nephew; Madison, Aubrey, Caleb, Adelia, Jade and Dakota. Fondly remembered by many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and many close friends. Predeceased by his grandparents Stanley Yandt and Charlie and Rita Schaefer.

Public Visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Sunday, February 6, 2022, from 1-5 pm. Registration is required to attend the visitation, as space is limited due to COVID restrictions. Please call the funeral home at 519-364-3660 (between the hours of 8:30am - 5pm) if you wish to attend. A private Funeral Service will be held at The Hanover Missionary Church on Monday, February 7, 2022, at 11am. For those wishing to join in celebrating Shaun’s life, the funeral service will be live streamed on the funeral home Facebook page at:  https://www.facebook.com/Mighton-Funeral-Home-Ltd-109625187108921  The live stream will start approximately 5-10 minutes prior to the service - at that time, please look for the live stream video post on the Funeral Home Facebook Page to join the service. For people unable to join at the time of the service, the live stream video will remain posted and available for viewing afterwards, and will also be posted on the Funeral Home obituary page in the days following.
