Heinz Remers

Heinz Remers

Heinz Remers, of Hanover, passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, February 13, 2022. He was 78.

Born on March 31, 1943 in Bergisch-Gladbach, Germany, to the late Gerhard and Maria (Schramm) Remers. Heinz was a very social man, and will be remembered for his stoic and charming nature that could put anyone at ease. Heinz married the love of his life, Trudy Diercks, in 1966, and in the same year they started their own business, Heinz Auto Body, in Hanover. He enjoyed everything about operating the business, so much so that even after retirement, he would come back to visit and help where he could. Although his hands were tough, his heart was soft and he always had time for his family and friends. Using his pride of heritage and belief in family strength, he modelled to all that no challenge in this life is insurmountable. He instilled a solid work ethic into each of his children - values that have been passed down to the next generation. He was a faithful member of St. Matthew's Ev. Lutheran Church in Hanover, as well as the Hanover Masonic Lodge. He would always be up for a chat, and gracious with his time to help out the community in any way he could.  Heinz was almost always with his true love and partner in crime, Trudy, and was devastated upon her passing just 2 years ago.

Survived by children Trevor Remers (Tammy McCracken) of Hanover and Heidi (Mitchell) Van Der Wal of Mount Forest. Heinz had a special relationship with each of his grandchildren and was always their number one supporter for all their activities. He encouraged them to live life with no regrets and showed them that Opa could keep up with them. Special Opa to Ronin (Quinten), Teo and Saskia and their mother Jackie Shields, and Laura and Christopher. Fondly remembered by his brothers Eberhard (Christine) Remers of Windhagen, Rudy (Mary Lou) Remers of Elmira, Peter (Val) Remers of Cambridge and sisters Rosie Parkes of Ottawa, Agathe Klingspon of Kitchener, Kaethe Slavik (Grant Easton) of Barry's Bay, Margaret (Henning) Lederer of Ignace and sister-in-law Liesel Remers of Kitchener. Heinz will be dearly missed by Trudy's family, and many close friends. Predeceased by his beloved wife Trudy, and by his brother Gerhard.
