Gerald Huenemoerder

Gerald Huenemoerder

It is with great sadness that the family of Gerald Carl Huenemoerder, of Hanover, announces his passing on Monday, June 6, 2022.  He was 90.

He was born in Brant Township on August 9, 1931, to the late Herman and Erna (nee Lorenz) Huenemoerder.  Gerald was a man of many talents and skills, and had various jobs over his life, working as a mechanic, labourer, and truck driver. He was also very generous with his time, working for the Diabetes Association and Heart & Stroke Foundation to help with collections.

Gerald loved the outdoors, spending time camping, fishing and hunting, and was a member of the Ontario Federation of Anglers & Hunters, and the National Firearms Association.

In his retirement years, he also enjoyed an entertaining hobby, racing lawnmowers. He had several of them. Gerald had a lawnmower that he just couldn’t get to go fast enough to race so he modified it with a mini truck style smoking stack and was seen with it in many parades around Hanover.

Gerald is survived by his wife Ruth (nee Schwass), daughter Geraldine Huenemoerder of Wiarton, and sons John (Mary) Huenemoerder of Mitchell, and Carl Huenemoerder (Blenz) of Windsor. Grandfather of Janine Tavares (Mario), Mark Dickieson (Emma), Jonathon Dickieson, Jamie Huenemoerder, Erin Gorse (Brandon), Scott Huenemoerder (Chelsea), Robyn Huenemoerder, and Gregory Huenemoerder. Gerald was a great grandfather of Isaiah, Kairi, Brooklyn, Aubrey, Nicholas, Alex, and Stella. Also remembered by George Dickieson and Bonnie McKibbon, as well as many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and their families. Predeceased by his parents, sister Beatrice Gaeler, brother Melvin Huenemoerder, and a brother in infancy.

Visitation will be held at First St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Hanover, on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, from 12 - 12:45 pm, where a funeral service will follow at 1 pm. Rev. Brian Dunlop officiating. Interment in Hanover Cemetery, followed by a social gathering with the family in celebration of Gerald’s life at First St Matthews Lutheran Church, Hanover.

For those who wish, memorial donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
