Florence Isabel Weltz of Ayton, passed away peacefully at Rockwood Terrace, Durham on Tuesday, October 18, 2022. She was 76.

Florence was born on November 7, 1945 in Bentinck Township to the late Valentine and Caroline (nee Weidendorf) Kaufman. Florence had a warm personality and was well liked wherever she went. She easily made friends; often lifelong friendships, throughout her life. During high school, Florence worked as a waitress at Norm’s Restaurant before starting her career as a Bank Teller at the Royal Bank in Hanover. She then moved on to working on the family farm and raising her 5 children, which was a full time job! Florence loved living on the farm. She was fond of reading, journaling, baking, quilting, sewing, writing to her penpal friends and caring for her animals; including the farm animals and her numerous pets over the years. She especially adored her cats! While raising her family and farming with Ray, cats would suddenly appear on the property and Florence took to caring for & loving them all. Her nurturing skills were like second nature to her. Florence will be remembered as a Kindergarten Sunday School Teacher for many years at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ayton. Florence had a such a huge heart. She gave generously to friends and their families, always keeping their children in mind. She was always quick to donate to causes that were close to her heart, especially causes that her Grandchildren were supporting. She will be deeply missed.

Survived by her dearly loved husband of 56 years, Raymond Weltz of Ayton. Loved mother of Ann Weltz- MacPherson (Andrew) of Ayton, Sheryl (Steve) Smith of Nanaimo, British Columbia, Joan (Mike) Roth of Dundalk, Judy, and Steve (Jennifer) Weltz of Ayton. Cherished and adored Grandma to her dearly loved grandson Owen, who predeceased her, and to Emma, Hanna, Emmitt, Alicia, Audrey and Kaitlyn. Fondly remembered by her siblings Ruth Wolfe, John Kaufman both of Hanover, Edwin Kaufman of Elmwood and sister-in-law Mary Kaufman of Elmwood. She will be missed by her in-laws Howard (Marlene) Weltz of Ayton, and Betty (Bob) Watson of Durham as well as her nieces, nephews and their families. Lovingly remembered by her lifelong friend, Sharon McDonald. She will be missed by many relatives in the Kaufman, Weltz, Weidendorf, and Schul families. Predeceased by her brothers Jim Kaufman and Ivan Kaufman, as well as many friends and family.

Family and friends are invited to a Graveside Memorial Service held on Saturday October 22, 2022 at 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Ayton. All are welcome and please feel free to bring a lawn chair and dress in comfortable clothes. Rev. Pam McNeil officiating. Cremation with interment in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Ayton. Lunch to follow at the Ayton Arena.
