Gail Monk

Georgina "Gail" Monk, of RR#1 Elmwood, passed away peacefully after a valiant battle with cancer at Hanover and District Hospital on Thursday, January 18, 2024. She was 77.

Born in Hanover on April 20, 1946 to the late Clifford and Jennie (nee Mazur) Ruhl. Many will know Gail from her years spent working at M&M Meats. She loved spending time on the farm raising her boys alongside her husband Everek. She instilled many values in her boys. Always active in her community, she volunteered her time with Kinettes, Parkinson’s Group as well as a devoted member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Elmwood.

Beloved mother of Steven (Janet) Monk of Shelburne and Glenn (Kim) Monk of Marl Lake. Honorary grandmother and great grandmother. Fondly remembered by her siblings Brenda (Bruce) Kaufman of Hanover, Vincent Ruhl of Alma as well as by her in laws, Becky Monk of Hurkett, Doris (Larry) Milligan of Allan Park, Susan McDermott of Milton and Kathleen (Doug) Monk of Exeter as well as many nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by her beloved husband Everek, sister in law Kelley Ruhl and brothers in law Murray Monk and Rob McDermott.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation held at St. John's Lutheran Church in Elmwood on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 from 10-11:15 am where a Funeral Service will take place at 11:30 am. Rev. Catharine House officiating. Private family interment in Hanover Cemetery.

On behalf of my family I send my sympathies on the loss of your Mom. I remember the Monk reunions in years gone by where I got to know Gail and I knew how she loved her life on the farm. She was a great lady and will be missed by all her knew her.
