Lloyd Widmeyer

Lloyd Noah Widmeyer of Hanover, passed away at the Hanover and District Hospital on Monday, February 19, 2024. He was 93.

Born in Hanover on September 14, 1930 to the late Erwin and Katherine (Weltz) Widmeyer.

Lloyd, along with his wife Kathleen, farmed for over forty years on the site where the new Secondary School is now located, and was a faithful member of St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hanover.

Survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Kathleen (Bender) Widmeyer, children Grae (Janet) of Goderich, Barbara (Bryan) Barfoot of Manitoulin Island, Debra of Elmira, Colin (Maribeth) of Sioux Lookout, Quentin (Barbara Ann) of Windsor Junction, Nova Scotia, and Philip of Waterloo.  Loving grandfather of seven.

Fondly remembered by brother Morris of Kitchener, sister Marilyn (Robert) Sattler of Waterloo, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by daughters-in-law Catherine Biers and Gayle Patterson, brother Clare (Kathaleen), and sisters Geraldine (Don) Meinzinger and Dorothy (Lloyd) Schefter.

To honour his wishes, cremation has taken place.  Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hanover on Friday, April 12 at 11am. A time of fellowship and refreshments will be held following the service in the adjacent hall.
