Craig Donald MacArthur of Hanover passed away with his family by his side on Thursday September 26, 2024 at the age of 58.
Born in Hanover to Don and Betty (nee Herman) MacArthur. For much of Craig’s life he and his father Don worked together operating an Auto Body Shop in Hanover. Craig cherished those years working alongside his Dad. A lot of memories were made and stories that will be told for years to come.
Craig was the Deputy Chief on the Hanover Fire Department. He was a highly respected mentor and role model within the Department and the community. His commitment, loyalty and dedication was admirable. Craig had many qualified certificates and accomplishments, but he was most proud of being promoted to Deputy Chief and receiving the Terry McDonald Memorial Award for his strength, courage and dedication to the community. Craig was proud to have served 35 years with his Fire family.
Craig’s life was his family. He was our rock, our hero, and our best friend. He was the one that all of us turned to when life was hard. He loved his 4 wheeling trips and long weekends at the camp with his friends. He lived every day to the fullest and helped anyone he could along the way. As a good friend said “Craig was someone who was always willing to help…nothing was ever a problem”.
Devoted and loving husband of Rhonda. Loved and cherished father of Natasha (Jackson), Brody and Disa (Justin). Admired Papa of Dante, Brianna, Delia, Trey, Kyler and Frankie. Loving son of Betty Viner and son-in-law of Jim and Barb MacArthur. Loved brother-in-law of Ray MacArthur and Craig Hopkins. Deeply missed by his nephews Jonathan (Denica) Hopkins, Jeffrey (Jessica) Hopkins and niece Becky (Chad) Weltz and their families, as well as Raychel (Justin) Holt and Jesse (Adrienne) MacArthur. Loved and deeply missed by his Hanover Fire Family.
Predeceased by his father Don, and his sister Joanne Leno, his grandparents Fred and Myrtle Herman.
In honour of Craig’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a come-and-go Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at the Hanover Legion from 2-5pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Hanover Fire Department would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Mighton Funeral Home. Messages of condolences can be made through www.mightonfuneralhome.ca
