Charles "Chuck" Stanborough

Charles Stanborough of Stratford, formerly of Hanover, passed away at Stratford General Hospital on Monday, November 25, 2024 in his 85th year.

Born in Elmwood on April 28, 1940 to Kendall and Alzena (Golem) Stanborough.  Chuck enjoyed his lifelong career of driving trucks, first a stake truck for his father's sawmill in Elmwood and then, for over 40 years, a transport truck for New Life Mills.  Chuck's hobbies were motorcycles and working with wood.  Chuck's son, Ron, fondly remembers the many hours he spent with his father cutting wood.  His children all own beautiful pieces of furniture that he refinished or built.

Survived by his children Deanne Dolton (Trent), Tracy Crewson (Steve), Ron Parker (Kathie), grandchildren Melissa Mulder (Beckett), Benjamin Dolton (Josslyn), Morgan Crewson (Emily), Kaela Allison (Ryan), Micah Crewson (Katrina), Rebekkah Crewson, one great-grandchild Elizabeth Crewson; Brian Stanborough and family.  Also survived by one brother Grant Stanborough and many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by brother Bert and his wife Helen Stanborough; sister Jean and her husband Cycil Clarke; brothers Ronald and Kenneth in childhood; and nephew Reg Stanborough.

A very special thank you to the doctors and nurses on the medicine ward at Stratford Hospital.  Their kindness, generosity and compassion went beyond the call of duty.

Visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Saturday, November 30, 2024 from 11-1pm where a Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm. Rev. Paul Holden officiating. Interment in Hanover Cemetery.

Memorial donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association, your local Hospice or charity of your choice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

Public Condolences

Chuck and my Aunt Betty often sat together for meals at River Gardens Retirement residence. The first time I joined them and met Chuck he told us all a joke. We will miss his wit and dry sense of humour.

Dear Ron, Kathie and family,
I am so very sorry to hear of Chuck's passing.
I have many memories of your dad's presence at gatherings at Gillies Lake and stopping for a quick chat with him while out for a walk.
May he rest in peace.

Dear Deanne, Tracy, Ron and all the Stanborough family,

The "strong silent type" is the epitome of Uncle Chuck. Hard working and committed to his best, whether it be the safe delivery of a multi-ton load, the meticulous care and performance of a motorcycle, or producing a beautiful wooden piece.

I see the resemblance between my Mom (his sister) and it makes my heart swell. I even see my teeth in his smile! May the love and pride he had for you bring you endless warmth and comfort.

Love, Cindy

My condolence yo the Stanborough family on the recent passing of Chuck. I knew some members of the family. I remember watching those log trucks go down the highway, thru Elmwood. Something to see full of long logs, I miss seeing that actually. A long ago era. Gine as the Lucky Dollar Store on the corner in Elmwood, years ago.

Brian, please accept my condolences as its not easy loosing those who have been there for us thru good and bad times. Cherish your memories of Chuck. He was a great person.
Love
Your Aunt Sue Friest
XOXO
