With deep sorrow, we announce the unexpected passing of Robert Tegler at his home in Carrick Township on Monday, April 14, 2025, at the age of 75.
Born on September 26, 1949, to the late Herman Harold and Grace Isabella (Inglis) Tegler, Robert lived a life marked by his unwavering dedication to family, community, and the land.
A lifelong, dedicated farmer, Robert’s love for the land ran as deep as the roots he nurtured. He worked the fields with pride, care, and a steadfast spirit that saw him through every season. Farming was not just his livelihood; it was his identity. He embraced the rhythm of rural life and often reflected fondly on simpler times, when hard work, good soil, and honest company were the foundations of a fulfilling life.
Robert is survived by his sons Seth Tegler of St. Thomas, ON, Jesse Tegler of Chesley, ON, and Emil (Alexandra) Tegler of Puslinch, ON. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Lucas Tegler and Synthia Tegler, children of his son Jesse, who brought him immense joy. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Deborah Maltman of Walkerton, ON, and his loving sister, Eleanor (David) Gibson of Mississauga, ON. Robert also leaves behind his cousins, including his dear friend, Dave Tegler of Clifford, ON, with whom he shared a lifelong bond rooted in their mutual passion for farming, Mary Tegler of Winnipeg, MB, Carol Tegler of Hanover, ON, and Sylvia Tegler of Hanover, ON.
Robert was predeceased by his parents, Herman Harold and Grace Isabella Tegler, and his brother, John (Marilyn) Tegler of Peachtree City, GA.
Robert leaves behind a legacy of determination, deep roots, and the enduring love of those fortunate enough to have known him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who shared in his journey.
