Robert Tegler

Robert Tegler

With deep sorrow, we announce the unexpected passing of Robert Tegler at his home in Carrick Township on Monday, April 14, 2025, at the age of 75.

Born on September 26, 1949, to the late Herman Harold and Grace Isabella (Inglis) Tegler, Robert lived a life marked by his unwavering dedication to family, community, and the land.

A lifelong, dedicated farmer, Robert’s love for the land ran as deep as the roots he nurtured. He worked the fields with pride, care, and a steadfast spirit that saw him through every season. Farming was not just his livelihood; it was his identity. He embraced the rhythm of rural life and often reflected fondly on simpler times, when hard work, good soil, and honest company were the foundations of a fulfilling life.

Robert is survived by his sons Seth Tegler of St. Thomas, ON, Jesse Tegler of Chesley, ON, and Emil (Alexandra) Tegler of Puslinch, ON. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Lucas Tegler and Synthia Tegler, children of his son Jesse, who brought him immense joy. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Deborah Maltman of Walkerton, ON, and his loving sister, Eleanor (David) Gibson of Mississauga, ON. Robert also leaves behind his cousins, including his dear friend, Dave Tegler of Clifford, ON, with whom he shared a lifelong bond rooted in their mutual passion for farming, Mary Tegler of Winnipeg, MB, Carol Tegler of Hanover, ON, and Sylvia Tegler of Hanover, ON.

Robert was predeceased by his parents, Herman Harold and Grace Isabella Tegler, and his brother, John (Marilyn) Tegler of Peachtree City, GA.

Robert leaves behind a legacy of determination, deep roots, and the enduring love of those fortunate enough to have known him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who shared in his journey.

A memorial visitation will take place at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover on Saturday, May 24th, 2025 from 2-5pm. Cremation has taken place.

As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Messages of condolences can be made at  www.mightonfuneralhome.ca

My deepest condolences to all of Robert's family. I have not seen Robert for 21 years and prior to that another very long spell. I have many cherished memories from my youth of Robert working with my Uncle Herman on the farm. That farm became his and in the 1070's Robert taught my husband and I about pigs and the different crops of corn. Robert and I had a long conversation a few months ago in which we learned that we had much in common. It was wonderful reconnecting. May Robert rest in peace.

My sincere condolences to Amil, Seth and Jess on the passing of your father, Robert. Robert was a lifelong neighbor and a true friend to me. He would often stop by and chat in the workshop and lend a hand if needed. I truly enjoyed his company and how cheerful he was with a never-ending smile, he would always make me laugh as we conversed about our life challenges. He will be sorely missed. (Jerome)

We will all truly miss him.
