Douglas Richard Elmer Weidner, of Hanover, passed away at Hanover and District Hospital, Hanover on Monday, May 26, 2025 at age 68.
Born on June 6, 1956 in Hanover, Ontario, to Murray 'Lance' and Audrey (nee Magwood) Weidner. Doug was a fun-loving man, who took great pride in everything he did. From his family, to his career, his craftsmanship, carpentry, and hobbies, Doug was meticulous and strived for perfection. Many people will remember Doug from his various jobs in kitchen design, production, and installation, working with Hanover Kitchens, Morrow’s and finishing his career at Hanover Home Hardware. He used his talents in kitchen design and carpentry to help his community with various charitable initiatives. One of Doug’s proudest contributions was the new kitchen upgrade at the Home & Community Support Services’ Day Away Program Facility at Hanover & District Hospital he was able to build through Hanover Home Hardware and his Possibility Tours. Doug also loved nature and was passionate about old-growth forests and undisturbed wilderness. He loved adventures at a family cottage on Temagami Island and enjoyed capturing nature's beauty through photography. He always enjoyed a good game of cards as well – Euchre, Solo, Cribbage, and more – you could count on Doug to join in the game. Doug has left a lasting impact on his family, friends, clients, and community. He will be missed.
Survived by devoted wife Laura (nee Murphy) Weidner of Hanover. Loved father of Chris (Tawnya) and Josh (Kyle) both of Hanover, and proud grandpa of Ashealia and Kaedyn. Dear son of Audrey (nee Magwood) Weidner of Hanover. Fondly remembered by his sisters Lynn (Chuck) Boulianne and Lisa Weidner both of Hanover, and Louise (Scott) Brady of Delhi, and brother-in-law Ian (Louise) Murphy of Sicamous, B.C. Cherished uncle of Nicole, Michael, Paityn, Hope, Riley, Lexi and Marrick. Predeceased by his father Murray 'Lance' Weidner, and brother-in-law David Weidner.

My deepest sympathy to Laura and family and Audrey and family.
I worked with Doug the last 5 years of his career at Hanover Home Hardware, installing his kitchens and cabinetry. It was a pleasure working with Doug. We shared many laughs and ups and downs working on the jobsites and at the showroom. I learned a lot from Doug, he was always willing to try something new. Whether a new product or new process. We were a good team. I will always remember him and our many projects we worked on together.
You are all on my heart and mind at this difficult time.
My deepest sympathy to all that new Doug. Doug generously tought everything he knew about the kitchen industry to me early in my career and we continued to work together throughout his different paths in the industry. He was always keen to be leading edge and not afraid to try new things. He was an inspiration to me and I am sorry to hear of his passing.
