It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Douglas Frederick Logie in his 90th year at the Hanover and District Hospital on Wednesday, August 06, 2025.
Born and raised in Hanover, Ontario to the late Ernest and Hattie (nee Sickel) Logie on October 27, 1935. He was a proud lifelong resident of Hanover, Ontario. Born and raised in Hanover, Doug’s roots ran deep in his beloved hometown. He was devoted to his community, serving for many years as a Town Councillor and as Deputy Reeve for Grey County. His dedication and forward thinking helped bring the town’s recycling program to life, something he took great pride in. In partnership with his brother Calvin, Doug built a number of homes in Hanover, leaving a lasting mark on the town he loved so dearly. He knew every street, every story, and could often be found sharing Hanover’s history with anyone willing to listen. In his later years, Doug became a familiar sight on his Schwinn bicycle, pedalling around town often with his two cherished granddaughters in tow. To him, the sun rose and set on those girls. His constant whistling, friendly chats, and quick smile made him a true fixture in the community. Doug’s legacy is one of hard work, deep community pride, and unconditional love for his family. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Survived by daughters Shannon Logie, Beth (Terry) Ferrier, son Doug Logie Jr and son in law Steven Logie. Adored Popa of Samantha and Aleesha (Zac). Fondly remembered by his sister in law Corinne Logie as well as many nieces, nephews, their families and Jackie (nee Jordan) Logie. Doug will be missed by his feline companion Sophie. Predeceased by his parents, son David and brother Calvin.
Family and friends are invited to Visitation held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Monday, August 11, 2025 from 6-8pm. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Matthew’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Hanover on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at 11:00 am. Rev. Lori Pilatzke officiating. Interment in Hanover Cemetery, Hanover.

- Richard and Sandy ErmelMy condolences to the family. I knew Doug for may years with his involvement in 2nd Hanover Scouting, the time he was on town council and just around the neighborhood. He will be missed.
- Ed ERMELMy condolences to the Family during this difficult time. I would greet Doug often on the streets of Hanover as we passed by one another whether on foot or bicycling. He always had plenty to talk about of the town, was always sincere, and cheerful. Doug made sure to introduce Samantha and Aleesha to me while I was a "Live On Air Personality" at Hanover's Blue Water Radio station on main street. All three bicycled past me one day while I was at the station window working; next thing you know in walks Doug eager to show off his two grandchildren with a proud look on his face! I was so delighted to meet two smart girls that were curious with all the equipment that surrounded me. Since that initial visit I was greeted many of times after as the girls wanted grandpa to stop in to give me treats and some of their creative drawings for keeping them all entertained. Doug said their visits were an opportunity to get on the bicycle and keep pedaling as I kept him motivated to staying active. Doug will be missed by many along with his Great Stories of Hanover's Past. .."God Bless".. Sharon Herman
