Vera Margaret Pries (nee Watke) of Normanby Township, passed away October 14, 2025 in her 98th year at home surrounded by her loving family.
Beloved mother of Grant Pries of Normanby Township, Linda Riedstra (Henry) of Stratford, Deborah Morrison (Peter) of Hanover and Susan Dixon (Greg) of Southgate. Grandmother of Melissa Martin (Jeremy) of Kelowna, BC, Kyla Wiesner (Rob) of Brodhagen, ON, Melanie Ciavaglia (John) of Grande Pointe, MB, Ashley Barnard (Justin) of Ottawa, Erica Dixon (Shawn Hicks) of London, Janelle Riedstra (Steve Korsh) of Cambridge, Scott Morrison (Shayna) of Guelph, Davin Riedstra (Dawn) of Cambridge, and Jordan Dixon of Southgate. Great grandmother of Maya, Aubrey and Leah Martin, Micah, Edwin, Galen and Bodhi Wiesner, Chloe, Caleb, Callie Ciavaglia, Claire and Olivia Barnard, Jack and Finn Morrison, and Valerie and Julia Riedstra. Sister of Elva Trapp, sisters-in-law Velma Watke and Frances Kingston and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Nelson Pries and son Eric Pries, parents Erwin and Hilda Watke and brothers Percy and Clayton Watke as well as the Pries in laws.
Vera farmed alongside her husband Nelson and son Grant living in the stone house for 76 years. She loved quilting and made over 1000 quilts, donating many to the Linus Foundation, bringing comfort to children suffering from cancer. She was a talented gardener, cook and baker, and she loved to spend time with her family. She will be deeply missed.
Family and friends are invited to St. Matthew's Ev. Lutheran Church on Friday, October 17, 2025 from 12:30 pm until time of a service at 1:30pm. Interment to follow in Hanover Cemetery.
