Ret. Police Constable Eric Bohn

Ret. Police Constable Eric Bohn

Ret. Police Constable Eric James Bohn, a devoted public servant and beloved member of his community, is remembered with deep gratitude and heavy hearts. After years of unwavering commitment to protecting others, he had finally stepped into retirement—a well-earned chapter that ended far too soon at his home on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. He was 56.

Born on December 21, 1968, to Erhard and Bernadette (Danis) Bohn in Windsor, Eric started his public service as a Military Police officer with the 21st Service Battalion Canadian Army Reserve.  He moved on to municipal policing with the Toronto Police Service 14 Division patrol, many specialized units, as a training officer, and in his final chapter teaching new recruits and requalifying existing officers as a firearms instructor at the Toronto Police College.  He was awarded the Police Exemplary Service Medal in 2012 and his first bar in 2022, and was awarded the Ontario Medal for Police Bravery by Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, Hal Jackman.  He was a silent hero and did not want any recognition for his efforts and he exemplified the code of "to serve and protect". Known for his steady courage, quiet compassion, and the integrity with which he wore the badge, he touched countless lives both on and off duty. His absence leaves a profound void, yet his legacy of service, kindness, and sacrifice will continue to guide and inspire all who knew him. May his memory be a reminder of the extraordinary difference one dedicated life can make. After retirement from the Toronto Police Service, he continued his legacy of service to others while working for Pegasus Safety and Rescue, as a Medic and Rescue Technician. He will have a special place in the hearts of all his colleagues and brothers in blue. Outside of his professional accomplishments he enjoyed the quiet things in life. He adored his wife and of course his girls and loved watching them grow into the beautiful young ladies that they have become. He could be found enjoying the peace and quiet of his home in the countryside and enjoyed retirement in Grey Bruce alongside his family and their horses.

Survived by devoted wife of 34 years Paula (nee Erdmann). Loving father of Samantha and Danielle. Beloved son of Erhard and the late Bernadette Bohn. Fondly remembered by his only brother Curtis (Sandra) Bohn. Eric's memory will be treasured by his parents in law Karl (Diane) Erdmann. He will be missed by his sisters in law Laurie Gerald, Amy (Rob) Turnbull and Karla (John) Oleynik, his nephew Joseph and nieces Sophia, Alyssa, Alanah, Brianna, Sydney, great niece Aria, and dear cousins, and will always hold a cherished place in the heart of his special aunt Raymonde (Gerry) Schneider. Eric will be treasured among all his brothers in blue, his lifelong friends, as well as many friends and colleagues at Pegasus Safety and Rescue and the 21st Service Battalion.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 1:00pm - 5:00pm  - Windsor Chapel Funeral Home (Banwell Location) - 11677 Tecumseh Rd E, Windsor, ON.

Memorial donations to the Toronto Police Widows and Orphans Fund (TPWOF.ca) would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.mightonfuneralhome.ca

Public Condolences

I just heard and I can't imagine a world without Eric Bohn. I met you through Pegasus Rescue and had the privilege of working with you on a few occasions, mostly notably that music festival where everyone thought you were security and not there as a medic. At the same age, you were so easy to talk to, and although we came from different worlds (you a cop and me a medic) there was so much overlap. I'm gonna miss you buddy. My sincerest, and heartfelt condolences to your wife, your kids, your family and your friends & colleagues.

RIP Brother (PC #43).

It was a pleasure working with you over the years " from the Marine fitness tests and the Coxswain Marine Course to the days on the range when you were serving as a firearms instructor. You were missed the day you left 14 Division, and again when you “retired”. 😉

You served the community with your whole heart❤️.

Blessings and condolences to your family and your extended family.

Our deepest condolences on your loss. Eric was a great person and exemplary officer. I enjoyed all the times, I worked with him, had fun outside of work and enjoyed his sense of humour.
I know him as the best prankster at 14 Division and always loved seeing what mischief he got up to.

Paula & family. My sincere condolences for Eric's sudden loss. Together you raised two wonderful young ladies. You were well on your way to creating a perfect post work lifestyle during retirement. Eric was loved by too many to count. Everyone that spent time with him was positively impacted by his confident lead by example approach. I considered Eric my Friend, Mentor & Brother. I can share that Eric was very Proud of you Paula, Danielle and Samantha. He Loves you all very much. I will always be there for the three of you as Eric would do the same for me. Rest in Peace Eric...

Dearest Paula, Danielle and Samantha,

Our hearts break for the profound loss you are experiencing. Although time and kilometers have separated our families, the cherished memories of our childhood friendship are always close to my heart.

We were deeply saddened to hear of Eric's passing. We remember him as a kind and funny man. My best memory is of him dancing at our wedding (no doubt to a cheesy 80s song). Forever in the memory of our wedding video.

I can only imagine the depth of your sorrow right now. Please know that we are thinking of you and sending your our deepest sympathies. I hope that you can find some comfort in the love of your family and friends and in the wonderful memories you shared together.

With love and heavy hearts,
Laurie, Bryan and Justine
