Milford Thomas Adlam, of Ayton, passed away on Thursday, December 11th, 2025, at the Hanover and District Hospital. He was 85. Born in Bentinck Township on March 6, 1940, to the late Thomas and Gladys (nee Fursman) Adlam. Predeceased by his beloved wife Darlene (nee Barton) Adlam and his daughter Paula. Loving father of Susan (James) of Thornbury and Terri (Dave) of Waterloo. Proud Papa of 4 grandchildren Keira and Roane Morrow and Jenna and Cole Hickling.
The family would like to express gratitude for the compassionate care provided by Dr. Kaila Lassaline and Dr. Ian Eckensweiler and to the exceptional staff at the Hanover and District Hospital.
Milford (Mr. A) started teaching in a one-room school in Hampden and will be remembered as a teacher who taught at Normanby Community School in Ayton for 29 years. Milf will be remembered as being instrumental in bringing both minor hockey and minor ball to Ayton and surrounding areas in the early 70’s while earning his bachelor’s degree part time from Wilfrid Laurier University and finding time to both coach hockey and play Intermediate ball himself. Milf became an avid golfer and especially loved Pike Lake Golf Course and the many golf trips with friends. Milf looked forward to card nights in Ayton in which he was a member for over 20 years, and especially loved playing solo and cribbage.
To honor his wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private family inurnment will be held in the spring at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery- Ayton. A time to gather and celebrate will also be held in the spring to be announced later.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Ayton Lions Club would be appreciated by the family.

- SHIRLEY WEBERTruly one of the GREATS when it came to teaching math! I'm sure it is hard to believe, for anyone who knows me…once I got 100% on a math test in his class in Grade 8. I don't know who was more excited, Mr Adlam or My Mother! I will never forget that test! Mr Adlam was a great man who made Normanby a very special place to learn!
- Louise SchenkSusan, Terri and family,
Arlene and I were so sad to hear about the passing of your dad. We would like to express our deepest condolences. I first got to know Milf while teaching at Normanby C. S. and very much enjoyed working with him on staff. During our retirement years, we reconnected and spent time playing cribbage and pool at our respective homes. I always looked forward to these get-togethers even though it was impossible to beat him at a game of pool! Arlene & I hope that your fond memories and the love/support of family & friends help you through what must be a very difficult time!
Rick Henry
