Karen Jane Peterson, of Hanover, passed away peacefully at The Village Senior's Community in Hanover on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. She was 65.
Born on January 12, 1960 to Carl and Elaine (nee Pries) Peterson. Jane had a unique sense of humor but will be remembered for her love of all animals especially cows...and of course her chocolate.
Survived by son Jason Peterson of Stratford. Loved by her mother Elaine (nee Pries) Peterson and her brother Larry (Holly) Peterson of Georgetown.
Special aunt of Carly Peterson-Welch (Lawrence Welch) their son Walker and Tyler (Rachael) Peterson and their children Maya and Noah. She will be fondly remembered by the many friends and staff at the Village Seniors Community where she made friendships over her years there.
To honour her wishes, cremation has taken place and a family inurnment will take place in the spring. A funeral will be announced in the new year.
Memorial donations to the Humane Society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
My condolences to Elaine and her family. My prayers are with you.

- Laraine GoddenJane and I met when we were wee girls at the (old) Georgetown Memorial Arena when our brothers Larry Peterson and Dale Mieczaniec played hockey. A more innocent time we'd run around the arena unsupervised ignoring the hockey game(s) but we were just two girls creating our own fun. Jane was fun, funny and outgoing, i.e. a complement to my shy, quiet, reserved personality. By high school Jane loved the Bay City Rollers and Rod Stewart and likely other British/UK bands and enjoyed them with intense spirit! We would later work alternate shifts at Fotomat at the Georgetown Market Place (parking lot) where I trained her and got to befriend her once again post high school. While I am shocked and saddened I have many fond memories of Jane Peterson, a kind spirited personality whose sense of humour made her a pleasure to spend time with. Without social media back then once I moved from Georgetown we lost touch but reunited with the "magic" of social media. We reconnected and caught up via messenger only to discover her posts became less frequent with 'clues' to her declining health. I'm so sorry, Jane. My condolences to Jane's son, family and friends. May you have solace knowing that Jane was loved by so many. We all have cherished memories.
- Kelly MieczaniecSending heartfelt condolences to the family of Jane! I remember working with Jane at Tim Hortons many years ago, I enjoyed listening to her stories and how she loved Rod Stewart and was so excited to go to one of his concerts!
Also in conversation on how my cousins were her cousins too! Such a small world! RIP Jane.
