David Allan Dunlop
January 6, 1948 – February 14, 2026
It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of David Allan Dunlop, who passed away peacefully on February 14th, 2026, at The Village Seniors Community in Hanover, Ontario.
David was born in Montreal on January 6, 1948. He is survived by his beloved wife, Heather Dunlop. David and Heather were married on August 1st, 1987, in Mississauga, Ontario, and shared almost 40 wonderful years together.
David will be dearly missed by his children — Jennifer (Frank) of Carlisle, Ontario, Paul (Misa) of Richmond, British Columbia, and his stepson Craig (Heather) of North Shore, Nova Scotia. David was a proud grandfather to Nevena and Sullivan (Jennifer & Frank); Ayana and Hiro (Paul & Misa); and Liam and Emily (Craig).
David was predeceased by his parents, James and Florence, and by his older brother William (Marie). He is lovingly remembered by his older brother Daniel (Dora) of Campbell River, British Columbia.
David’s career began with United Aircraft and Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in Montreal and Toronto. He later earned a designation in Personnel Management and worked in that field in the Toronto area before taking a full-time position with Durham Furniture in Durham, Ontario. David and Heather enjoyed many happy years in nearby Elmwood and Hanover, Ontario.
After being diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF), David went on long-term disability and, in an extraordinary turn of hope, received a double lung transplant on March 6, 2006. He became one of the longest-living survivors of this rare operation, a testament to his strength, gratitude, and quiet perseverance.
