Gary James Heibein, of Ayton, passed away at Brightshores Health Centre, Owen Sound on Wednesday, February 18th, 2026, in his 79th year.
Born on August 21, 1947, and raised by Charlotte (nee Heibein) Smith and the late William and Sarah (nee Thomson) Heibein. Gary was a long-time resident of Ayton, and many will remember him from his many years working at Sklar-Peppler until he retired.
Loved brother of Carol (Dan) Steward of Brockville and Ray (Susan) Smith of New York. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and their families, as well as many close friends. Predeceased by his wife Dianne (nee Watkins), parents, brother Dale, and sister Ann Lynn Moore.
To honour his wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no services. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover.
Gary left a permanent mark on my heart. Over coffee he would share his stories, show off his radios and pocket watches, and light up when he talked about his wife and his dogs. I didn't know Gary long, two years wasn't nearly enough time, but I am so grateful our paths crossed.
- Brittany VanDerStraeten (Weppler)Gary we all miss you.
