Robert James McGlashan, of Hanover, passed away surrounded by his sons at Brightshores Health Services in Owen Sound on Friday, March 27, 2026, just 2 days before his 87th birthday.
Born in Chatham, England on March 29, 1939 to the late James Henry Stuart and Mabel (nee Pankhurst) McGlashan. Robert was an Electrician for Ontario Hydro. He especially loved being on the lake surrounded by his amazing neighbors and friends.
Survived by sons Robert McGlashan (Joanne Martin) of Belleville and Mark (Ana) McGlashan of Bowmanville. Loved by Violet, Emmett and Oliver. Remembered by his sister Josephine Milne as well as nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by his beloved wife Dorothy (nee Robson), his grandson Austin and sisters Pauline (Wyndham) Powell, Joan Wootton and brother Allan (Joan) Wootton.
Family and friends are invited to a Visitation held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Thursday, April 2, 2026 from 11-11:45am where a Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 pm. Lyndsay McGregor officiating. Cremation to follow with a private family inurnment at a later date.
Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.mightonfuneralhome.ca
So sorry Rob and Mark and family's I wasn't able to get to your dads funeral as I am not able to walk I have many great memories of your mom and dad and also you boys Kitten and Wayne Horst

- Bev virginRob and Mark, so sorry to hear this. Our thoughts are with you. I didn't know your dad well but all my encounters with him were positive and friendly. Our ages were close and I was always interested in how he was doing.
He was pit crew and gas stop provider when Rob rode enduros. The photo of your dad with your motorcycle I sent a few weeks ago somehow has more relevance now.
