Donald Byers, of Hanover, passed away peacefully at Hanover and District Hospital on Thursday, April 2, 2026. He was 84.

Born in Normanby Township, on May 25, 1941 to the late Anderson and Berneda (Kraft) Byers. He worked for over 40 years in the furniture industry. He will be remembered for his love of hunting, fishing and playing baseball. His laugh and stories are going to be missed by all who knew him. 

Survived by daughter Lisa (Merle) Shantz of Waterloo. Loved Papa of Adrianne and Dilan. Fondly remembered by his siblings Larry (Marie) Byers, Stephen (Faye) Byers as well as his many nieces and nephews and their families. Predeceased by his wife Kathleen (nee Butchart) Byers, brother Vernon (Arlene) and sister Joan (Chuck) Rintoul.

Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Graveside Service held on April 23, 2026 at 11am at the Hanover Cemetery. Pastor Jenn Brown officiating.
