Thomas James "Jim" Halliday

Thomas James "Jim" Halliday, of Hanover, passed away at Hanover and District Hospital on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. He was 86.

Born in Owen Sound, Ontario on November 17, 1939 to the late James and Clara (nee Minke) Halliday. Jim met and married the love of his life (Susan Gilbert) on December 2, 1967. After living a while in the United States, they moved back to Ontario, and settled in Hanover in 1968. Jim found fulfillment in his long career working as the International Sales Manager for Hanover Kitchens, while his wife operated their business, Quick Print, which was located beside Shultz's bakery.  Together they retired to Miller Lake to enjoy being surrounded by nature and many friends. Jim was a 40+ year member of the Royal Canadian Legion, and was also a part of the Barrow Bay Fishing Club for many years.  Jim enjoyed spending time with his growing family and had great pride in his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. In recent years, Jim also enjoyed spending time with close friends at Chuck’s Roadhouse in Hanover.

Loved father of Mike Halliday (Tracey Clark) of Wellesley, Karen Anderson (Paul Kechnie) of Austin, Texas, Cindy Eropkin of Huntington Beach, California and Wendy Saviola of Phoenix, Arizona. Proud Grandpa of Courtney Sue Anderson, Taylor Anderson, Christine Lalonde, Kyle Eropkin, Jason Abbott, Mitchell Halliday, Samantha Fletcher, Kimberly Fletcher, and Great Grandpa of 9 (two of which will be arriving this May).  Fondly remembered by his wife's family, many nieces and nephews, extended family, and many close friends.  Predeceased by his brother Gord (Wilda) Halliday.

To honour his wishes, cremation has taken place. An inurnment of his ashes will be held at a family memorial at the Hanover Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial donations to the Hanover Legion (Branch #130) or to the charity of your choice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.  Arrangements entrusted to the care of Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.mightonfuneralhome.ca

Public Condolences

Jim and Sue were my first friends when I moved to Hanover and that carved a special place in my heart that was so special. My family and I have so many amazing memories which I'm grateful for. It is a very sad time for the Halliday family but we all find comfort knowing that they are together again for eternity.
