Marianne Caroline Hansen (nee Harnack), a resident of Hanover for 68 years, passed away at the Owen Sound Southbridge LTC on Friday, April 24th, 2026. She waited until her four children could gather by her side until she was content to let herself go. She was just like that – a determined woman with a loving and generous heart.
Marianne was born on October 10th, 1932 in Williamsford, Ontario – the only daughter in a family of nine. She was predeceased by her husband Carl (March 1993), her parents John & Cora (Procknow), and her six brothers, Nelson (Irene), Melville, Elmer (Beatrice), Russell (Lena), Bill (Dorothy Mae) and Arnold (Daisy).
She was resilient, resourceful & strong. She always believed in her guardian angel. In retirement she explored & enjoyed golfing, curling, bowling & lawn bowling, where she made many new friends. In later years she was always up for a game of Rummy-o or euchre with her dear friends in her apartment building.
She was loved and will be missed by her children Anne Holdcroft (Bill) of Lakefield, Cathy O’Rourke (Gary) of West Kelowna BC, Lee Hansen and Alan Hansen (Sonya) both of Whitehorse YT; her grandchildren Jessica, Meghan, Heather, Bonnie, Aric and Ian; and her great-grandchildren Natalie, Emma, Adalynn, Mackenzie and Elias. Also by her many nieces and nephews. She will be especially missed by her niece Lorna Girard who was a steady presence in Marianne’s later years.
In her final three years she became attached to her devoted caregivers at her Southbridge home, to whom the family extends their thanks and appreciation.
We’ll sure miss you Mom
