Gary George Carl Rahn, of Hanover, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Hanover and District Hospital on Saturday, May 9, 2026, just a week shy of his 92nd birthday.

Gary sat on many church boards and committees as well as instrumental in the building of Lutheran Manor Apartments and honoring legacy through his work on the Cemetery Board for many years. Although tiny in stature, he and Carole were never apart and had the biggest hearts.
Survived by his devoted wife Carole (nee Dowsett) Rahn of Hanover. Father of David (Darlene) Rahn of Guelph, Mark (Pam) Rahn of Parry Sound, Shelley Grant of Trenton. Dearly loved grandpa of grandchildren Adam Rahn, Daeca Rahn (Chris Freeman) and Hunter Grant (Katie Augi) and step grandpa of Amanda and Justin. Loved by his great grandchildren Jackson and Kiaan. Predeceased by his parents.

Dear Carole and Family, We are so sorry to hear about Gary. Mom (Elizabeth) has fond memories of Gary when they went to school together. Both of you were good neighbours to my Mom when living on 4th Street. We will be thinking and praying for all of you through this difficult time.

Sincere condolences to Carole, David, Mark, Shelley and all of your families. It was a pleasure working beside Gary and Carole on the Board of Directors for Lutheran Manor and we will think of him as we look at that empty seat in church. He will be missed by anyone who knew him.
- Rick and Sandy ErmelMy deepest condolences to Carole but we will both see my friend Gary again.
I have never met a finer gentleman and board president. There are people we meet in life that leave a permanent affect on the way we are. Gary was that for me. I worked with Gary for 20 plus years at the Lutheran Manor and he was so committed to providing affordable housing for the next generation.
Until we meet again, I carry the memory of Gary with me at every board meeting I will ever attend.
Our condolences to Carole and family. Gary was a wonderful man. He will be missed.

Our greatest sympathy to Carole and family on the loss of Gary. His commitment to our church family at St. Matthew's and his family will be dearly missed. Gary was one of the first people we met when we moved here 16 years ago and our conversations helped us to feel we were a part of the congregation,
