Paul Lahn passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre in Walkerton on July 7, 2026, in his 72nd year.
Paul was born on August 25, 1954. He was raised in Neustadt, where he developed a lifelong love of sports, a deep appreciation for family, and a strong sense of community.
He inherited a deep love of Christmas, a tradition he proudly passed on to his children. Every December, countless hours were spent decorating the house inside and out with lights, garlands, and handmade wooden decorations. Christmas music wasn’t reserved for the holiday season, Paul could often be heard singing his favourite carols year-round while working around the house.
Hockey was one of Paul’s greatest passions. Over the years, he proudly played for the Hanover Barons, Durham Huskies, Mildmay Monarchs and the Hanover Legion Oldtimers. Later, he remained involved with the Hanover Barons as an executive while his son Joel played, and eventually became one of his granddaughter Rileigh’s biggest supporters, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer her on. He also cherished the time he spent taking his grandsons, Tristan and Elliott, ice skating, creating memories they will always treasure.
A devoted baseball fan, Paul faithfully cheered on the Blue Jays and enjoyed travelling to watch Rileigh play throughout the years, creating many cherished memories along the way.
During the summer, Paul could often be found perfecting his tan while enjoying a cold beer. He loved his Mustang, and nothing made him happier than spending Saturday nights at the racetrack, working alongside the race team.
Paul began his working career roofing alongside his grandfather before dedicating 35 years of service to the Hanover Hospital, where he was well known and respected.
Paul will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Lynne; his children, Joel & Amy Lahn of Hanover, Danielle & Tyson Schnurr of Hepworth, Sara Perdue & Barry Dickie of Truemanville, Nova Scotia, and Brent Perdue & Ashley Melchers of Sauble Beach. He was a proud Papa to Rileigh Lahn (Ryan), Tristan Schnurr, and Elliott Schnurr. He is lovingly remembered by Shirley Lahn; Linda & Steve Wettlaufer; Paul & Tammy Weigel; Carol & Joe Hoffarth; Gary & Jill Weigel; Mark & Janet Weigel; Shelly Blue & Judy Moir; Robert & Debbie Blue; Larry & Carri Blue; Margaret & Bill Wollven; and a large extended family. Paul is predeceased by his parents, Howard Lahn and Nettie & Ron Emke.
A Celebration of Paul’s Life will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Hanover Legion (493 8th Avenue, Hanover). Words of remembrance will be shared at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Hanover & District Hospital Foundation, the Walkerton & District Hospital Foundation or the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover.
