Gerald Leo Boucher

Gerald Leo Boucher

It is with great sadness that the family of Gerald Leo Boucher announces his passing at his home in Hanover, Ontario on July 9th, 2026.

He is survived by the loves of his life: wife Patricia (Pat), sons Derek and Ian, grandchildren Ethan & Renee, Sisters Gail Richard (Marcel) and Yvonne Baxter (Don), and many nieces & nephews.

He was pre-deceased by his sister Beatrice Boucher, parents Iona & Leo Boucher and in-laws and a niece.

Jerry was actively involved in Scouts Canada and soccer leagues, and he watched with pride when Derek & Ian played. Passionate about soccer, he loved coaching the kids during those years. Watching soccer was a great past time for him throughout his life and he really enjoyed watching Canada host the FIFA World Cup this month.

He wore his Legion uniform with pride. In honor of his father's military career as a Korean Veteran he continued to advocate for veterans' rights and their families. In the past few years, Jerry created a legacy album mapping his father's journey and documenting the history he often found difficult to discuss.

In honor of his mom, Jerry & Pat continued archiving her stamp collection, which spanned many years. This mutual project gave them hours of enjoyment researching historical events and the stamps' origins. Their attention to detail was second to none. However, after a long time without a dining room table, Pat admitted she was glad to have it back. lol

Jerry loved bird watching, photography and was an avid reader of all genres. He loved nature, especially wolves. His connection with them mirrored his own fierce loyalty, intelligence and a blend of his own untamed wilderness. Anyone who knew Jerry personally knew without a doubt how much he loved great dialogue and spirited conversations.

Jerry will be forever cherished in our hearts and all the memories we hold dear. There is comfort in knowing there is no more pain as he is with our Lord and that he was welcomed at the gates by all who loved him.

To honour his wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover.

Public Condolences

Pat, Derek and Ian, we are so sorry to hear of Jerry's passing. We have many fond memories of the old days at Inverlochy and know he will be missed. Sending our deepest condolences.
