Braden Alexander Weppler

Braden Alexander Weppler

Braden Weppler

June 14, 2007 - July 12, 2026

Braden, a vibrant, kind-hearted, and deeply loved son, brother, nephew, and friend, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 19. Known affectionately to his friends as "Brady" or “Brady Wepps”, Braden brought an immense amount of joy, light, and laughter into the world during his far-too-short time with us.

He possessed a boundless energy and an inherent love for being active. Whether he was riding his mountain bike, out fishing, going for a long run, or blasting his favorite music by the Arkells, he embraced life with enthusiasm.

An athlete through and through, Braden was a passionate hockey goalie who lived and breathed the game. He grew up guarding the crease for the Hanover Falcons (who later became the Saugeen Steelheads) and cherished the unforgettable seasons playing hockey alongside his brother, Isaak, and their closest friends. His loyalty to sports ran deep, and he was always a fierce supporter of his beloved Vancouver Canucks and Seattle Mariners.

Beyond his athletic pursuits, Braden was a remarkably talented artist, possessing a keen eye and a creative spirit. He chose to channel his natural empathy and kindness into his studies at the University of Victoria, where he was pursuing a degree in Child and Youth Care—a testament to his desire to lift up the next generation. Braden was a true West Coast soul.

Braden was, quite simply, a good kid with a good heart. His character was defined by a quiet, genuine generosity. He was the kind of person who would hand over a $20 bill at a neighborhood lemonade stand just to make some kids' day, or catch an NHL puck and immediately give it away to a younger child just to see them smile. That was the essence of Braden: selfless, thoughtful, and always spreading joy. And, of course, he never turned down a massive spoonful of Nutella.

Braden’s presence will be profoundly missed by his family, his friends, his teammates, and everyone fortunate enough to have known him. His legacy of kindness, adventure, and love will live on forever in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

Braden’s memory will be forever held close by his mother, Traci (nee O'Brien) Weppler and her partner Kyle of Hanover, and his father, Kris Weppler and his partner Ashley of Walkerton. He was a hero and proud big brother to Isaak Weppler, and will always be remembered by his loving girlfriend, Violet Bertram of Surrey, along with his dogs, Tito and Petey.

Braden is fondly remembered by his grandparents, Florence and Ken O'Brien of Hanover, his great-grandparents Nanny and Grampy of Stephenville, Newfoundland, as well as a large and loving extended family. He will be deeply missed by his aunts and uncles: "Auntie Lisa", Garett, and Trever O'Brien; Kristen Fish and Steven Green; Lawrence Cooper; Kimberley Cooper; and Shawn Weppler. His many cousins, Anika (Airk), Mischa (Jason), Malcolm (Nicole), Austin, Tegan, Dax, Cody, Mary Alice, and Jr., will always treasure their time together. He is survived by his biological father, Jonathan "J.C" (Jolene) Siderius of Milverton. He is reunited in heaven with his cousin, Claudia Weppler.

Friends are invited to a visitation at Mighton Funeral Home on Friday, July 17, 2026 from 4-8pm. A Celebration to honour him will be held at The Carriage House in Hanover on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 11 am. To share in the celebration of Braden’s life, please wear your favourite jersey on Friday.

Memorial donations to Saugeen Valley Minor Hockey or for a Education Fund for his brother Isaak (cheques made payable to Isaak Weppler) would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Messages of condolences can be made at www.mightonfuneralhome.ca
