It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Harold Fleet. Harold passed away peacefully with the love of his life by his side at Hanover and District Hospital on Monday, July 27, 2026 in his 72nd year.
Born in Hanover on January 30, 1955 to the late Harold and Geraldine (nee Schrank) Fleet. Harold will be remembered with love and gratitude. He will leave a space in our community that will never be filled. He was a faithful member of the Legion for over 30 years and most recently served as the Town of Hanover Councillor.
Harold served our town with integrity and kindness. He understood that leadership was not about recognition, but about listening, helping others and working tirelessly to make life better for all the residents of Hanover. Whether attending council meetings, supporting other members or even taking the time to speak with residents, Harold always lead with compassion and respect. He believed people always came first and treated them with kindness. Harold gave generously and without any expectation of anything in return. He made people feel seen, heard and valued. All of us who knew Harold are better off for knowing him. Harold enjoyed many sports including hockey, golf, ball and harness racing.
Survived by devoted wife of almost 50 years Heather (nee Fahrer) Fleet. Remembered by his siblings Fred (Hermina) Fleet, Sandra (Doug) Rowe and his sisters in law Mary (Dwain) White, Pamela (John) Weber. Harold was the kind of uncle that was always willing to help out and show up for the important things. Missing him are his nieces and nephews, Tracy Rowe, Vickie (Brian) De Groote, Kirk (Krista) Rowe, Jonathan (Coleen) Fleet, Tamara (Mike) Fenton, Ryan (Brandi) White, Matthew (Cheryl) White, Kristen (Richard) Horne, Kyle (Kelly) Weber as well as his great nieces and nephews Brandon, Jessie, Cooper, Mackenzie, Patrick, Jacqueline, Ebony, Madison, Hunter, Zachary, Curtis, Gregory, Jackson and Connor. His extended family with his great great nieces and nephews will miss him dearly as well as his many lifelong friends.
