Ruby Amelia Birr of Hanover passed away peacefully at Fairview Mennonite Long Term Care in Cambridge on September 7, 2026 in her 96th year.

She will be sadly missed by her son Ronald (Deb) Birr of Cambridge and by her daughter Barbara (Rufino) Birr-Gonzalez of Boerne, Texas. Beloved grandmother of Aaron Gonzalez-Birr (Amber) and Amelia (Mike)Rauch. Beloved great grandmother of Elodie & Vivian Gonzalez, Harrison & Benjamin Rauch. Ruby had also been welcomed by her extended family. Predeceased by her parents Elmer and Wilhelmene Fritz, sisters Maxine Bucholtz, Julie Hartman, Shirley Russell, and by her brothers Bud Fritz and Larry Fritz.

Ruby always looked forward to the spring season which brought new life in her flower garden. She also took pride in a bountiful garden, producing fruits and vegetables to be preserved for the family's enjoyment. Upon retiring from farm life, maintaining a manicured lawn and garden beds was her favourite past time. Ruby often traveled to Texas for family visits and always welcomed them to her home for annual summer visits.

To honour Ruby's wishes cremation has taken place. A private family graveside service will be held at Hanover Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Mighton Funeral Home.
