Carolyn Cameron

Carolyn Cameron, of Hanover, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness at Hanover Care Centre on Saturday, August 05, 2017. She was 83.

Born on May 16, 1934 in Regina, Saskatchewan to the late Peter and Caroline (nee Brosch) Kolmer. Her family moved from Welland to Hamilton. She graduated as a Registered Nurse from St. Joseph's Hospital in Hamilton with the class of 1955. She then went to Sarnia to work at Sarnia General Hospital where she became a supervisor of the hospital. In 1956 she met her husband Alex and on June 29 a year later they were married. After the birth of their 2 sons, she was transferred to Timmins along with her husband in 1964. Having enjoyed motherhood, she took four years off work to raise her family and returned in 1969 to the Porcupine Health Unit. She was placed in the position to start the then "small" home care program. Carolyn became one of the programs first member and as it grew province wide she travelled along throughout with this position.

Survived by husband Alexander "Alex" Cameron of Hanover, sons Alex (Linda) Cameron of Port Elgin and Dr. John Scott (Cathie) Cameron of New Hamburg. Loved by her precious grandchildren Lisa, Ashley, Jillian, Alexander, Michael and a great grandson Rhys. Also survived by her brother Robert (Doris) Kolmer, sisters Mary Richards and Anne Workman. Predeceased by her brothers John, Joseph, Victor Kolmer, sister Angeline and brothers in law Gordon Richards and Peter Workman.

Visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 from 10 am until time of a Funeral Service at 11:00 am.  Interment in Hanover Cemetery, Hanover.

Memorial donations to the Scottish Rite Charitable Foundation - "Puzzels of the Mind" would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
