Anne Hahn

Anne Hahn

Anne Marie Hahn, of Hanover, passed away at Hanover and District Hospital on Saturday, January 31, 2026 in her 75th year.

Deeply loved and cherished by her daughter Alissa (Chad) Magwood and grandchildren Connor, Curtis and Cameron of Guelph, daughter Raechelle Devereaux and grandchildren Charles, Matthew and Emelia of Guelph and daughter Gillian Devereaux and grandchildren Lily, Brooklyn and Jacob of Garden Hill. Loved daughter of Mary Seifried of Harriston and dearly missed sister of Edward (Helen) Seifried, Frances (Robin) Best and Daniel (Angela) Seifried. Anne was predeceased by her father Matthew Seifried and her husband Edner.

Mom lived her wonderful life to the fullest and warmly welcomed others to share in it with her. If there was a minute left in the day, she wanted to fill it with a visit, a drive to see something remarkable, or an ice cream cone. Treasured memories include vacations on Manitoulin Island, time spent on the farm and in the bush having campfire lunches, camping, gardening, skiing, cycling and travel of all kinds – most notably to visit her grandchildren. Grandma never missed a baseball game, dance performance, 4H show, Christmas concert or any celebration in our lives. Mom adored her various pets over the years and loved our pets too. She set an example of the importance of learning and obtained her Bachelor of Art in Fine Arts and later in life, her Bachelor of Education. She took great pride in noting the achievements of her various students over the years.

Following her career as a teacher, she discovered her gift for missionary work serving in Uruguay, Senegal, Costa Rica, The Gambia, Ecuador and Peru with Samaritan’s Purse and Inspire Hope. 25 years ago, Mom launched Operation Christmas Child in Hanover which over the years has blessed thousands of children around the world with gift-filled shoeboxes and continues to this day.

Mom was an incredible example of faith, love, generosity, dedication and hard work to everyone she met.

Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Visitation held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Thursday February 5, 2026 from 6-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, Hanover on Friday February 6, 2026 at 11:00 am. Father Romalito Guillen officiating. Public Condolences

I had the very good fortune of meeting Anne while I began my teaching career at James A . She was funny, generous with her time and kind beyond words. But had a strength of character I was in awe of. She was so so proud of her girls. What a life lived . And what a legacy.

Sending much love and condolences to Anne's family.
Anne showed us all how to include everyone in her accepting loving world.
She kept the lines open for so many years with the B.C. Seifrieds spending time both visiting my parents Bernard Rose Seifried and enjoying long conversations by phone in later years. My dad enjoyed her and Ed's company very much.
She has continued to keep the next generation of us close these past few years with constant updates of herself (family) and the Seifried families.
I will miss her and remember her daily.
Thank you Anne for being part of our Seifried family.

It is with a heavy heart that we send our sincere condolences to you, Anne's beloved family. I had the great honour of teaching with Anne and thereby becoming friends over the years. She was a role model as a devoted mother, grandmother, teacher, and steward of the earth. She had a calm demeanor and winning smile. We were excited to join her OCC team upon our retirement. Over the years of our friendship we loved hearing about the birth of each grandchild, their progress in school, extra-curricular events she attended, graduations, and vacations on Manitoulin. Her devotion to all she held dear inspires me to do more. As we said good-bye to her today I agreed with father when he said great pain at losing her meant we loved her. She was a truly remarkable lady.

I had the pleasure of working with Anne for many years. First at James A. Magee and then, Hanover Heights. She served as an important mentor for me. Her quiet and reassuring voice was something I will never forget. Her students loved her especially when they could assist with Operation Christmas Child. Thinking of the family of Anne at this sad time. For several years we have received a hand-delivered Christmas card from Anne, each one with a personal note, thanking us for decorating our roadside tree with Christmas lights. We had the pleasure of meeting Anne this past fall when we donated to her passion, Operation Christmas Child shoebox. She again told us how much she enjoyed our roadside tree decorated with lights. We will think of Anne each Christmas when we turn on the Christmas lights on “that tree”.

Whenever I am/was asked throughout life what I wanted to be when I grew up, I always said/say "Bus Driver"... and then get the oddest looks! When I was in Grade 2, my family moved to Hanover. Ann was my bus driver. Every day, I boarded that big yellow bus, greeted by Ann with the warmest smile and kindest words of welcoming to the day ahead. 40 years later, I can still see the reflection of her face from my seat on the bus in that big mirror that the drivers use to check on all us students, always waiting patiently before she closed the doors to be sure everyone was safely seated. A lifetime of this memory that I revisit often, teaching me how valuable all occupations are and the importance of every single, fleeting moment. Thank you Ann.
