Donna Ann Vessie, of Hanover, passed away peacefully with her girls by her side at Chapman House in Owen Sound on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at the age of 85. She is now reunited with her beloved Keith, who passed away last year.
Born in Walkerton on December 29, 1940, Donna was the daughter of the late Norman and Dorothy (née Long). She was affectionately known to many as “Aunt Donna.” Donna enjoyed working for Bell Canada as a telephone operator and took great pride in raising her girls. She was active in her church, St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hanover, and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Donna also proudly wore her 25-year pin from the Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary.
She will be dearly missed by her daughters, Wanda (David) Leah, Michele (Simon) Docherty, and Angela Vessie (Bradford Kuhns). Cherished Nana of Nicole (Mike), Mitchell (Alyssa), Jordan (Angie), Jasper, and Lincoln, and Great-Nana of Hudson, Lennon, Jameson, and Stevie. Donna will be fondly remembered by her siblings Sheren Checkley, Nancy Schenk, Wayne (Shirley) Schultz, and Carol (Dave) Kraft; her sisters-in-law Linda Schultz, Gayle Vessie, and Elva Vessie; and her special nephews, David and Barry Duncan. She will also be lovingly remembered by the extended Schultz and Vessie families.
Donna was predeceased by her brother, Bob Schultz, and her brothers-in-law, Jack Checkley and Bob Schenk.
Visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 from 10-11:30am where a Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 am. Rev. Lori Pilatzke officiating. Spring Interment in Hanover Cemetery.
