Ross Heipel, of Hanover, passed away at Grey Bruce Hospice – Chapman House, Owen Sound, on Saturday, October 17, 2026. He was 83.
Born in Hanover, Ontario, February 10, 1943, to the late Ivan and Esther (nee Gross) Heipel. Ross was a lifelong resident of Hanover. He met the love of his life, Marilyn Kruger, and they were married in December 1964. They enjoyed raising their family, and becoming proud grandparents. Ross was a meticulous man who paid attention to detail. This trait served him well in his career, where he spent over 50 years working at the Ford dealership in town, MacMicking Motors. He started working for the dealership as a car detailer, then became a licensed mechanic, service manager, and eventually moved into sales. He was a dedicated and valued staff member. His attention to detail was also seen at his home, where he always kept his vehicles clean, and his lawn in perfect condition. Ross also enjoyed cheering on his children and grandchildren in their sports.
Loved husband of Marilyn, and father of Kevin (Lisa) Heipel, Barb (Dan) Metzger, Mike (Stacey) Heipel, and Lori Heipel. Proud grandfather of Devan, Logan, D.J., Aaron, Tyler, Nash, and Maeve, and great grandfather of Eveah. Fondly remembered by his siblings Larry (Sharon) Heipel, Betty (Doug) Howell, and Dianne (Jim) Mather. Predeceased by his son Dennis Heipel.
Cremation has taken place, and a private family visitation was held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Chapman House for their excellent care for Ross, and making things a little easier for everyone during a difficult time, especially during Thanksgiving. Their kindness and attention to detail will be forever remembered, and Ross thoroughly enjoyed that they got him his favourite ice cream - Black Cherry.
Memorial donations to Chapman House - Grey Bruce Hospice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.mightonfuneralhome.ca
